No photos in backup: images are not displayed

You used CopyTrans Backup Extractor to extract photos from iPhone backup, but still you didn’t discover any photos on your PC? Pictures are not displayed!

We will explain why the photos were not extracted and how to fix it.

Why are my photos not in the backup?

The reason is that at the time of the backup, the iCloud Photos feature was enabled on your iPhone. This means that the photos from “Recent” (in older iOS versions “Shots”) are stored in iCloud and therefore are not included in the iCloud backup.

What is iCloud Photos?
To check where your photos are currently stored, please go to Settings on your iPhone:

Settings → Username → iCloud → Photos:

where are my photos stored

Here, under Photos, check whether iCloud Photos is enabled on your end or not.

If it is, it means that your photos are stored in iCloud and therefore not taken to iCloud backups.

iCloud Photos automatically saves all the photos and videos you take to iCloud, so you have access to the photos whenever you have access to iCloud.

You can learn more about iCloud Photos on Apple’s website.

iPhone backup without photos: check settings.
The answer is: the backup of photos in the backup is disabled.
Many users disable photos backup in backups because photos and videos take up a lot of storage space.

Make sure that photo library is included in your backup. To do so, open Settings on iPhone, go to Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups and tap the backup you want.

In the screenshot below, you can see that the photo library backup is disabled in the backup.

In this case, your photos are not included in the backup and therefore cannot be extracted from the backup.
